Hendrefor Burial Chambers

Hendrefor Burial Chambers is a Neolithic megalithic tomb in Cwm Cadnant on Anglesey, Wales. It stands on a farm pasture near Ucheldref Farm, south-west of Llanddona. The site once formed part of a larger cairn whose stones have long since been removed. Two burial chambers stood about seven metres apart, one to the north-west and one to the south-east. The western chamber was destroyed in the late 18th century, leaving only a fallen two-point-six-metre capstone. The eastern chamber survived until after 1825, when it too was dismantled. A single upright stone remains, its L-shaped profile suggesting it once marked an entrance for moving bones in and out of the chamber. Visitors find two low piles of stones and the single upright slab on open grassland. The setting is quiet farmland with distant views across Cwm Cadnant. The remaining stone shows faint traces of its original purpose. The site is small and unadorned, best understood as a fragment of a vanished Neolithic landscape.
