Grezzago
Grezzago is a small town in the Lombardy region of northern Italy, about 30 kilometres northeast of Milan. It sits in the flat Po Valley, where the Adda River flows nearby. The town covers just 2.5 square kilometres and has a quiet, rural feel. Five neighbouring towns share its borders: Trezzo sull’Adda, Busnago, Trezzano Rosa, Vaprio d’Adda and Pozzo d’Adda. The name Grezzago comes from the Lombard word for ‘little field’, which describes the landscape around it. The town has a long history tied to agriculture and local crafts. Its quiet streets and small squares show the slow pace of life in the Po Valley. The surrounding countryside is organised into neat fields and vineyards, typical of this part of Lombardy. A few old farmhouses and stone buildings remain from earlier centuries. The town’s small size means it has not grown into a busy centre, keeping its character intact. Visitors find a peaceful place with wide, tree-lined roads and modest houses. The main square is small but well kept, with benches and a few shops. The countryside nearby offers flat paths for walking or cycling along the Adda River. From the edges of town, views stretch across the Po Valley to distant hills. It is a place where time moves slowly, far from the noise of the city.
