Cadbury World

Cadbury World stands in Bournville, a suburb of Birmingham. The attraction is a self-guided exhibition tour created and run by the Cadbury Company. It tells the story of chocolate and the Cadbury business. The site opened in 1990 on Cadbury’s Bournville manufacturing grounds. The Prime Minister at the time, John Major, formally opened it the following year. Over half a million visitors come each year, many of them children and students. The estate also runs an education programme linked to the company’s founders. The attraction is divided into fourteen zones. These use static sets, animatronics, videos, a multi-sensory cinema, interactive displays and staff demonstrations. The Bournville Experience zone explains how the site developed. The 4D Chocolate Adventure zone, built in 2014, includes a 3D cinema. In 2019, seven interactive panels were added in the Aztec Jungle zone. These features bring the history of chocolate and the business to life for visitors. Visitors find a mix of learning and entertainment. The zones guide them through chocolate’s past and Cadbury’s growth. Demonstrations show how chocolate is made and packaged. The cinema and interactive panels add movement and sound. The surroundings of Bournville, known for its green spaces and model village, add to the visit. The tour links the modern attraction to the company’s origins in the 19th century.
