Schloss Petronell
Petronell Castle – a Renaissance château near Carnuntum
Petronell Castle is a splendid Renaissance moated château and one of the most important early-Baroque palaces in Lower Austria. From 1660 the Abensperg-Traun family had it built in the manner of an Italian castello, with four round towers and an arcaded courtyard.
The castle sits just a few steps from the Carnuntum Archaeological Park and the Heidentor, making it easy to combine with a visit to the Roman sites. Its spacious grounds and elegant architecture are a popular destination for culture lovers and day-trippers.
