Dürnstein Abbey – the blue tower of the Wachau

The former Augustinian abbey of Dürnstein bears the emblem of the Wachau: the blue-and-white Baroque tower of the abbey church, rising unmistakably above the Danube. Created between 1721 and 1733, it is one of the most photographed church towers in Austria.

The Baroque courtyard with its terrace over the Danube, the ornate portal and the church itself make a visit memorable – in the heart of the picturesque wine village of Dürnstein.
